A calculator to estimate the cost of electricity to dehydrate all the carcasses in a single BROILER grow cycle.
This form was created in Feb 2025 and we are still testing the results. If there are bugs, or the results seem incorrect, we would most appreciate feedback. Please CONTACT US.
The energy consumption is based on our most popular 1500L model (200Kg minimum, 900Kg Maximum capacity), and on average it will require 0.45kW per kilogram of carcasses to convert it to sterile meat meal. It may be higher if the ambient temperature is low, or perhaps lower if the farmer is adding the meat meal to compost and the target moisture percentage is a little higher.
We are assuming a 42 day grow cycle and the chicks on Day 1 weigh 40 grams.
The mortality over the grow cycle does change, and obviously there are multiple factors involved. Fluctuations in mortality over the grow cycle are normal.
- Higher early mortality: Common in the first week due to stress, handling, and adaptation issues.
- Mid-cycle stability: Mortality typically stabilizes and remains low during mid-cycle.
- Slightly increased mortality near the end: Due to higher bird density, environmental stress, and potential disease pressure.
We have tried to include these fluctuations in the calculations.
